What Is Rotary?

A volunteer movement addressing the world’s greatest challenges

Service Above Self
Rotary is an international organization made up of over 1.2 million members who share their expertise, time, and money to support local and international humanitarian projects that address some of the world’s most pressing challenges, such as hunger, poverty, and illiteracy.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

As a global network that strives to build a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change, Rotary values diversity and celebrates the contributions of people of all backgrounds, regardless of their age, ethnicity, race, colour, abilities, religion, socioeconomic status, culture, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity.

Club Benefits

Rotary brings together a global network of volunteer leaders who dedicate their time and talent to tackle the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges. Rotary connects 1.2 million members from more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Their work impacts lives at both the local and international levels

Our club connection gives you the chance to develop skills like public speaking, project management, and event planning. You’ll meet interesting people from your community and around the world. And you’ll tackle local and international issues that are important to you and your fellow club members.

Rotarians in 200 countries and more than 30,000 clubs may differ in customs, but every member shares one thing in common: they were invited to apply for membership.

Rotary is a global network of 1.4 million neighbours, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves. We are involved in projects overseas, mainly with direct input from our members.

We have been supporting Koroipita Village, Fiji for more than 20 years. Twice we have sent teams to build houses for destitute families. We have also supported children’s education and helped families who arrive with almost nothing. We provided educational and medical materials and relief after Cyclone Winston and partnered with the Rotary Club of Lautoka, to provide toilet and shower facilities for six people with a severe mobility disability.

Papua New Guinea

A little girl in New Guinea desperately needed an operation to repair a hole in her heart. Rotary organised flights, surgeons and accommodation, which resulted in saving this young girl’s life. We also sent containers of books, educational and vocational items including sewing machines and technical equipment to Porgera in the remote highlands.
